Portrait Session: Karli

Yesterday I had a photo session scheduled for portraits with my friend Karli, who was getting them done as a birthday present from her roommate Lauryn. It was all a surprise, and we had a lot of fun! Initially, we were going to go to the park; but with the weather calling for rain, I recommended we do it somewhere that could be inside or outside - so we went to the Greene! It's a very chic spot with lots of designy elements that I love working with for photos. Despite the rain, we got some pretty decent shots to work with!

I loved how easy it was to get her to smile - she had a very genuine character and an infectious laugh.

This is one of my personal favorites. It's a very natural pose, and the flowers really accentuate the bubbly nature and feel of the photograph.

I was going for chic with this photograph, and I think it turned out quite nicely.

In this picture, Lauryn was showing her a book that she loved and it made her smile like that. It almost reminds me of a book cover.

I loved how the blue of her umbrella brought out the blue in her eyes, and the green scarf really set everything else off. A great day for picture-taking in the rain.

Portrait Session: Rachelle

I recently did a photoshoot with my roommate Rachelle. Here are my best shots from that adventure:

It was a bit of a challenge to get her to loosen up, but it was one that I met with stunning results. :-)
Here is my personal favorite shot of the day, and there's a story behind it. I had a picture taken of me in a similar pose, and when she saw that picture, she lamented that she'd never be able to pull off something quite so glamorous - I took her statement as a personal challenge that I told her I would ultimately fulfill. And so I did.

The guiding lines in this shot from the tree are something I particularly enjoy about this picture.

Another favorite from the day, and there's a story behind this one too - I requested that she just think very intently about something before taking this picture, and I later noted to her that there was a very spiritual quality to the result. It was then that she informed me that she was in fact in silent prayer during this shot - It gave me chills. (the good kind)

Portrait Session: Jillian

Jillian is a good friend of mine and I recently did a photoshoot with her by a field of sunflowers in Springfield, OH.

This is one of my favorite shots - it's so contemplative and the black and white makes her expression so much more striking.

I love the colors of this photo. The yellows of the sunflowers really make the colors of her shirt and eyes stand out so much more.

Here is one of her more serious faces.

But she's really a kid at heart.

The overall design and angle of this shot are probably what makes it one of my favorites of the day - and the colors all go so well together.
